Touchstone was outstanding both as a racehorse and as a stallion. Owned and bred by Robert Grosvenor, 1st Marquess of Westminster, he was conditioned for racing by the pre-eminent trainer of the day, John Scott.
In 1834 he won The St Leger and went on to win two Ascot Gold Cups and two Doncaster Cups and in all won fifteen of his twenty starts.
Richard Hannon and Jeremy Noseda make up a really pacey duo for this syndicate. Richard has long been one of our principal trainers regularly training over one hundred winners in a season and over the years he has provided the warmest of welcomes at his Herridge Stables. Jeremy is thought by many to be a champion trainer in the making having already handled two classic winners including the John Warren bought St Leger winner Sixties Icon.
