Stoic showed tremendous improvement as a three year old finishing last season with an official rating of 97. This athletic looking son of Green Desert won three of his four starts and went to Dubai to compete at the Carnival. Stoic put up a highly encouraging performance on his first run at Meydan on 4th February finishing a highly creditable second from a very wide draw and ran another marvellous race to finish fourth at Meydan on 19th February. Infuriatingly he was given another wide draw on his final appearance at Meydan on 25th February and finished unplaced. It was frustrating that he was unable to win in Dubai but remains a very talented horse who will give plenty of fun during the coming season.

Stoic ran yet another good race at York on 19th August despite not finishing in the frame and Johnny Murtagh could not have been more positive about him afterwards. He looked in great shape beforehand and was very relaxed during all of the preliminaries. In the race itself he broke well and Johnny settled him in mid division in the hope that he could conserve as much energy as possible due to the large amount of weight he was carrying. He made a promising move in the straight but was forced out towards the slower ground which enabled those on the stand side to benefit significantly. He ran on gamely without being given a hard race to finish sixth beaten approximately five lengths by the winner, Ransom Note.
