Super Kenny, a dual winner and Listed placed son of top French sire, Kendor, cost 60,000 Euro at the Saint–Cloud Autumn Sale. He really is a lovely horse that ticks all the boxes having good flat race form in France. He is a fine individual with a tremendous depth of girth and looks to be the type who will continue to strengthen and fill to his frame the older he gets.
Super Kenny made a highly impressive winning debut at Stratford on 15th March without ever coming off the bridle. Despite looking keen early on, his jockey Barry Geraghty gave him a text-book ride and never had to do more than give him a gentle squeeze to win by 2¼ lengths. He was unplaced at Aintree on 8th April but nonetheless gave plenty of cause for optimism for the future and he jumped fluently throughout.
Super Kenny ran subsequently at Aintree and then at Stratford but ran very flat on that occasion so came back to Highclere Stud for a well earned rest. By mid July he had started to put on a bit of condition and seems much brighter in himself; Carolyn Warren is much happier with his general well-being now and the plan is to move him to Malcolm Bastard’s spelling yard near Lambourn where he will continue light exercise.
