This is a powerful looking son of established sire Cadeaux Genereux, champion sprinter in Europe in 1988 and sire of over 1,500 with prize money earnings of over £23 million. His most famous winners include Bahamian Bounty, Bijou d'Inde, Embassy and Major Cadeaux.
Since arriving at Somerville Lodge, he really enjoys his exercise up Warren Hill and caught the trainer’s eye early in the year! William gave him a short break from training during the Spring but since returning to William, this colt looks absolutely fantastic and breezes up Warren Hill with the minimum of fuss. Although a tall horse, he looks very level now and I suspect that he has done most of his growing. He is extremely athletic and he also boasts a rock solid temperament, so altogether one couldn’t be happier with his progress to date. Firebeam did his first piece of work on the Al Bahathri at the end of June and William was more than happy with this so will continue to increase his exercise over the next few weeks. He did his second piece of half speed work in early July on the Al Bahathri gallop and William reported that he went very nicely. Since then, Firebeam suffered a minor setback so will be on a trotting programme for two or three weeks before resuming cantering exercise. Despite this, William reports that the horse is thriving physically and the trainer believes he is an exciting prospect and, all being well, would be making his debut sometime during October.
