A really good looking colt by Mr Greeley and out of Sulk, champion two year old filly in France in 2001. Sulk's dam, Masskana, has produced five winners including Eagle Mountain, winner of the Hong Kong Cup (Group 1) in 2008 and second in the Epsom Derby the previous year.
Deny finished down the field on his debut at Newmarket on 27th August but ran a perfectly respectable race under the circumstances. The ground was very testing and looking at Deny beforehand it was clear that this is a horse who still has plenty of furnishing and strengthening to do. He behaved very well throughout the preliminaries and went to post beautifully. In the race itself he travelled in fourth or fifth and was obviously enjoying himself but couldn't quicken three furlongs out, so Richard Hills looked after him, pushing him out with hands and heels.
