At Highclere Stud in October 2009
Trend working in August 2010
This fine looking son of established sire Marju, who last year produced another Group One performer in Viva Pataca to win the Hong Kong Gold Cup. Michael trained another son of Marju for Highclere in Saturn, who was fourth in the Irish 2000 Guineas and short headed into second in the Prix Guillaume D'Ornano.
During the Spring, Trend began to fill his significant frame and Michael is happy with his current rate of progress. Trend continues to do steady canters but is a big and rather heavy topped colt, and needs to get the weight off him in order to move up a gear in his training programme.
By early August, Trend looked a completely different horse since being gelded and physically he looks much harder. Michael has recently moved him into faster work and he has been delighted with the way he has worked. This horse really is going the right way and all being well he should be ready to make his debut at the beginning of September.
