Hierach was purchased at Saint Cloud in the Spring and looked sure to make an impact as a two year old. Having made his debut at Ascot towards the end of July, he made dramatic physical progress and began to show real potential in his work at home. Unfortunately he met with a setback and had to be put away for the season but remains open to plenty of improvement this season.

Hierarch ran a disappointing race at Newmarket on 23rd July especially as he had been working so well at home. He was very relaxed in all the preliminaries beforehand, looked extremely well and broke smartly from the stalls. He was ridden up with the pace but at the four furlong marker Richard Hughes gave Hierarch a reminder to keep his mind focussed. He seemed reluctant when asked for his effort and ended up finishing seventh, beaten 4½ lengths.
