Herculean at Highclere Stud in October 2008
On Warren Hill in March 2010
This is a very good looking son of Sakhee who was always bred to be a three year old. He developed well over the Summer months but was not strong enough to make his debut last season. William Haggas believes that Herculean will be worth waiting for as despite being weak, he has always cantered up Warren Hill in good style.
Herculean made an encouraging debut at Yarmouth on 19th July finishing fifth and only beaten just over two lengths. He behaved well beforehand and loaded up into the stalls without any fuss. He broke slowly and Liam Jones bustled him along before settling in behind at the back of the field. He was a little green in running before being asked to improve his position and made up ground on the inside; he looked to have every chance in the closing stages but was a little squeezed for room. Once Liam realised that he was not going to win he eased up and was not overly hard on the horse.
Both Liam and William Haggas were very pleased with this debut performance and William was confident that Herculean will come on a great deal both physically and mentally for this first experience.
