Syrian made rapid physical progress last Spring and soon caught the eye of his trainer Michael Bell. This big, powerful son of Hawk Wing made a highly impressive debut at Yarmouth but failed to build on that on his next two starts. He remains open to plenty of improvement as he gains more experience.

Unfortunately Syrian finished tailed off at Newmarket on 16th July and afterwards Keiren Fallon reported that he was not happy with the way the horse was moving, easing him right down in the last couple of furlongs. After the race Syrian appeared to be sound when he was trotted up but Michael Bell asked the vets to take a thorough look at the horse. Syrian was thoroughly examined afterwards and thankfully the vets pronounced him one hundred percent sound with nothing amiss.
